New Oleville

Hi everyone,

We're going to be completely redesigning the SGA website, Oleville.com. In the meantime, we'll be using this blog as a replacement. Every week we'll update a list of events and important dates, etc., that you would have found on the old Oleville.com.

Unfortunately, there will be no poll questions anymore.

Love,
Your SGA Team

Peace and War in the Heartland

If you are 20 Years old, the US has been in Iraq for more than a quarter of your life.

If you're registered to vote in Minnesota, you are registered for the draft.

Want to do something about it?

Peace and War in the Heartland is a series of events coming to campus this Thursday through Saturday during which students can explore broad issues of war, peace, and nonviolence, while looking specifically at the war in Iraq.

Because most Oles don't have to seriously consider joining the military as a way to help pay for school, the war can seem distant and inapplicable to our lives. The fact is that the war is very real to the people who are fighting it and will affect the US and the global community for years to come. Peace and War in the Heartland strives to ask us what we, personally, would do if we were forced to go to the war. Asking this question to students will implicitly raise the question "why don't I have to think about this?" and the issue of class privilege.

Come learn from veterans, peace activists, a former federal criminal, and an interfaith religious leader.
